Catherine, Princess of Wales, brings royal elegance — and Zara earrings — to the BAFTAs red carpet

At the BAFTAs on Sunday night, Catherine, Princess of Wales, put a frugal spin on traditional opulence by accessorizing an upcycled

Alexander McQueen gown with $28 Zara earrings. The princess made a statement on the red carpet as she arrived for

the British film industry's Oscars with her husband Prince William while wearing an outfit she had previously worn to 2019's honors.

She tweaked the style, though, by adding a different shoulder pattern and a pair of opera gloves.

The couple, who were attending the awards ceremony for the first time in three years,

were among the most eagerly anticipated guests at London's Royal Festival Hall. Some celebrities, including The Princess,

chose a black and white color scheme on a night that also honored William's late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

She had recently made changes to the floor-length dress she was wearing. In place of the floral shoulder accents from 2019,

a chic drape of coordinating white fabric was used. Black gloves and a set of earrings from Zara, which retail for $27.90 and

include flower-shaped charms and jewel appliqué, were the finishing touches to her ensemble.
