Why don't planes fly over the Himalayas

By : Mahi

Many big airplanes keep flying in this world, but do you know why airplanes are not flown over the Himalayas? Today I am going to tell you about this.

The first reason is that high-speed winds blowing over mountain ranges create "mountain waves" that can throw an airplane out of control.

That is why it is almost impossible for airplanes to fly over that area. The second reason is that the oxygen in the mask usually lasts for 15 to 20 minutes.

If for some reason the plane has to be brought down from the height of 35000 feet, then doing so can be very dangerous in the Himalayas,

because at the height of 35000 feet the oxygen and atmospheric pressure becomes very low.

The third reason planes have to maintain such a high altitude is that it gives pilots "room for error".

This means that if something goes wrong, the captain lets the plane fly on its own for a while while he tries to fix the problem.

During this time if the error is corrected then the aircraft starts flying again, otherwise emergency landing has to be done. But it is impossible to do so in the Himalayas.
